How to Verify an AV Company's Track Record in Marrakech

The audiovisual industry has almost no meaningful awards. Six checks that reveal whether a supplier's experience is real — with our own answers alongside.

The short answer

Audiovisual production has no equivalent of a Michelin star. There is no widely recognised certification of live-event competence, and the trade awards that exist are largely marketing exercises. So credibility in AV has to be verified through evidence, not credentials: repeat clients, named events with a stated role, venue relationships, documentation quality, and a supplier's willingness to be checked.

The six checks below work on any AV supplier. Asimetrica's answers are given under each one so you can apply them to us as easily as to anyone else.

The Six Checks

Each one is answerable in a single email, and evasion is itself an answer

🔄

1. Repeat clients

Ask: which clients have booked you more than once, and how many times?

Re-selection is the strongest signal in this industry. Anyone can win a first job on price; nobody wins the third one that way. A supplier with no repeat business after several years has a pattern, not bad luck.

Ours: our client list includes long-running corporate and institutional relationships — The World Bank, CNESTEN, COSUMAR, Allianz, Amadeus and others.

🎯

2. Role on named events

Ask: on that event, were you prime contractor or a sub-contracted supplier?

A logo on a website often means a supplier provided six radio microphones to a much larger production. Prime contractor means they carried the technical responsibility for the whole event.

Ours: we work both as prime technical contractor and as a specialist supplier to agencies, and we will tell you which one applied on any reference we give.

🏨

3. Venue relationships

Ask: have you worked in this specific room, and who is your contact at the venue?

A supplier that works regularly in a venue knows its power supply, load-in restrictions, ceiling limits and house rules — and the venue's technical staff know them. That knowledge saves hours on build day.

Ours: we work continuously across Marrakech hotels, palaces, riads and congress venues, and we will say plainly if a venue is new to us.

📄

4. Documentation quality

Ask: can I see the equipment list, crew plan and schedule?

This is the fastest test of all. A supplier that operates to a standard produces these as a matter of routine. One that does not will send a total and a promise.

Ours: every quote goes out itemised by equipment, crew role, day and build schedule, with backup shown separately.

👥

5. Team stability

Ask: are your technicians employed or freelance, and will the person quoting be on site?

Continuity between the person who plans the event and the person who runs it is where most operational knowledge actually lives. A freelance crew assembled the week before starts from nothing.

Ours: our technical team is in-house, and the people who scope the event are the people who deliver it.

📞

6. Contactable references

Ask: can I speak to the organizer of a comparable event?

A logo wall proves nothing. A named person who ran an event of similar format and scale, willing to take a call, proves a great deal. Comparability matters more than prestige.

Ours: we provide contactable references matched to your event category on request.

Why AV Has So Few Awards

Audiovisual work is judged by its invisibility. A conference where every microphone opened on cue, every slide appeared on time and nobody in row 30 squinted at the screen produces no story and no photograph. The work that goes wrong is memorable; the work that goes right disappears into the event it was serving.

That is why the industry's real reputation system runs on referral rather than recognition. Agencies, PCOs and venues share supplier information constantly and privately, and a supplier's standing in that network is far more accurate than any public accolade.

The practical consequence for you: ignore badges, test evidence. The six checks above are what that network is effectively doing anyway.
