Employed technicians carry the pre-production knowledge into the room. A crew of freelancers assembled the week before starts from zero on your event.
Ask: will the person who wrote this quote be on site?
3. Conference experience
Conferences need microphone discipline, presentation switching, speaker timing and rehearsal management. These are operating skills, not equipment.
Ask: name three conferences you ran as prime contractor.
4. Backup and redundancy
Spare microphones, a second playback machine and duplicated signal paths should appear as line items. If redundancy is not in the quote, it is not on the truck.
Ask: show me the backup items on this equipment list.
5. Venue knowledge
Marrakech venues differ sharply in available power, load-in access, ceiling height and rigging permissions. Learning that on the day costs hours.
Ask: have you worked in this exact room before?
6. International working standards
Agencies, PCOs and DMCs working from abroad need itemised documentation, clear English or French, and a schedule they can drop into their own production plan.

Five Mistakes That Cause AV Failures

- Not confirming backup in writing. "We always bring spares" is not a commitment; a line item is.
